On Saturday, 28 September 2024, Spread a Smile is having its first-ever Family Fun Day, a heartwarming event sponsored by Sharesy and in collaboration with Non-Stop Action. This fun-filled day promises an array of family-friendly activities, games, and entertainment, all while fundraising to support Spread a Smile's mission of bringing joy to seriously ill children and their families.

A Day of Fun and Togetherness

The Family Fun Day is designed for Spread a Smile supporters and their families to come together and enjoy a day of unforgettable experiences. Participants will take on the challenge of completing various activity stations, working as a team to earn certificates and prizes. The event will feature Spread a Smile’s fabulous entertainers, showcasing magic, music, arts and crafts, face-painting, and more. Spread a Smile’s beloved therapy dogs will also be there to cheer (or bark) you on as you enjoy the day.

A Cause Close to Heart

Felix Atkin, Founder and CEO of Sharesy, knows firsthand the impact Spread a Smile can have on families facing challenging times. 

Felix shares, “In March 2021, my son was diagnosed with an auto-inflammatory disease. My wife, Vicki, and I spent six weeks in a small hospital room with our little boy, swapping every three days to spend time with our daughter at home. It was every parent’s nightmare. Fortunately, the team at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Spread a Smile were amazing. This wonderful charity brings joy and laughter to seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families during long hospital stays.”

Felix continues, “Coincidentally, we discovered that we shared the same co-working office as Spread a Smile in Highbury. We have since moved to a new location near Archway and while we miss the wonderful team at Spread a Smile, we take every opportunity to help them with fundraising or preparing gifts for the children they support. My son's diagnosis was undoubtedly life-changing, but it also showed me how strong we can be when we come together during difficult times. It certainly puts the stresses of running a start-up into perspective.”
