Common Mistakes When Planning a Kids Party
Vicki Atkin
1. Not booking the venue in time
To ensure your party is a success, it is best to book your venue as early as possible - some sites suggest at least four months in advance. Here at Sharesy, we make it easy for you to find the perfect venue for your event. With our filtering system, you can see what is available when and where. Once you have found the ideal spot, simply click 'book' and you are done!
2. Not booking the entertainer in time
If you decide to have an entertainer at your child's party, the next step after you have confirmed the venue should be to book the entertainer. It is essential to book the entertainer in advance to make sure they are available for the event. Popular local entertainers can get booked up months ahead of time, so if your child wants the most popular entertainer in the area at their party, be sure to book as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment.
3. Not sending out invitations or RSVPs in time
It is always a good idea to share an RSVP message as soon as you know the date of your child's party, as this will help to avoid any clashes with other children in their class. If both families are hosting whole-class parties, it is important to be aware of potential birthday clashes early on.
This way, you have more options for resolving the issue. You could team up and host a joint party, work out dates and times that fit both kids so that their friends can attend either or both parties, or create a class birthday list so you know who has birthdays in which month. This not only helps to avoid clashes but also gives you the opportunity to host joint parties if desired.
4. Not having enough time for set-up and clean-up
Not having enough time for set-up and clean-up can be stressful, especially when it comes to setting up. You may have a vision of how your child's party should look, but after blowing up what feels like a million balloons, the space may still not be ready. To avoid this stress, it is important to prepare as much as possible ahead of time and to get to the venue with plenty of time to spare. If you are doing the decorating yourself, it is a good idea to call in extra help. Alternatively, you could hire someone to decorate the space for you. Don't forget that clean-up time is just as important at the end of the event; most venues will have this stated in their booking terms and conditions.
5. Not having a backup plan in case of bad weather
If you are having an indoor party, this isn't an issue. However, if you are planning an outdoor summer party, it is best to have a back-up plan in case of rain. Most Sharesy venues have both indoor and outdoor facilities that can be hired as part of a package. Therefore, if you want an outdoor party, you don't have to worry about rain ruining it since you can always book the indoor space too.
