Easter is a fantastic time to explore London with your family! The city has a lot to offer with exciting events, egg hunts, and springtime attractions, many of which are completely free. If you want a budget-friendly way to entertain the kids this Easter, we have some great ideas for you for some family fun in London.

Here are some top tips for a cheap day out in London to enjoy this Easter 2025.

1. Explore London’s Free Museums

London is home to some of the world’s best museums, and the great news is that many of them offer free entry! Here are some top picks that are running fun activities this Easter:

  • The Young V&A museum – Young V&A joins the Big Egg Hunt this Easter to support the Elephant Family. A stunning egg by Szabolcs Bozó, inspired by Hungarian fairytales. There is a competition running to name the egg.
  • The Natural History Museum – Celebrate spring with family-friendly Easter activities exploring nature and biodiversity! Enjoy talks, crafts, and tours for ages 4+. Book ahead to join the fun this April!
  • The London Canal Museum – Take your child on a canal adventure to explore heritage and wildlife! Enjoy a craft workshop and a canal boat trip, spotting nature along the way. There is a small admission price for this unique experience. It is recommended that you book in advance.

2. Enjoy London’s Beautiful Parks and Gardens

Spring is in full bloom during Easter, making it the perfect time to visit London’s stunning parks. Here are some great outdoor spots where the kids can run around and have fun for free:

  • Hyde Park Learning Centre – Join in with a Discovery Days: Spring Surprises workshop at Hyde Park Learning Centre! Enjoy free, family-friendly activities like pond dipping, nature trails, making seedballs, and more. Afterwards, why not head over to Kensington gardens to explore the Diana Memorial Playground, complete with a pirate ship and sensory trails.
  • Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – There is so much to do over at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park! Enjoy Easter activities, picnic spots, and peaceful spring walks—there’s something for everyone this holiday! Joe Banana is hosting a ticketed Easter Egg Hunt at the Park, check it out on the link above.

3. Take Part in Free Easter Egg Hunts

Many places in London host Easter egg hunts, perfect for keeping little ones entertained. Here are two free hunts:

  • The Big Egg Hunt – This Easter, The Big Egg Hunt 2025 brings 100+ artist-designed eggs to London’s landmarks from March 24 – April 27. Explore, track eggs on The Big Egg Hunt app, and unlock surprises!
  • Easter Egg Hunt at Merchant Square- Join the Marvellous Mouse Gang on an interactive Easter adventure! Help find their lost nest through games, storytelling, and dress-up, and enjoy a chocolate surprise at the end!

4. Visit London Farms

Kids love animals, and London has some amazing city farms where they can see goats, pigs, chickens, and more:

  • Spitalfields City Farm – A hidden gem near Brick Lane with a community feel. Check out their amazing line up of Easter activities.
  • Mudchute Farm – One of the biggest city farms, with free entry and plenty of animals. Check out their Easter activities for some affordable fun this Easter.
  • Vauxhall City Farm – Join their annual Easter Egg Hunt and enjoy a delicious chocolate egg at the café! There will be other great activities running during your visit so check them out. There is a small fee to participate in the Easter activities and booking is essential.

5. Wander Through London’s Markets

London’s markets are full of vibrant stalls, street performers, and delicious food. They’re great for an affordable family day out:

  • Borough Market – A foodie paradise that is great fun.
  • Camden Market – Quirky shops, street food, and a lively atmosphere.
  • Greenwich Market – A mix of arts, crafts, and tasty treats.

6. Discover the Magic of Platform 9¾

If you have a Harry Potter fan, take them to King’s Cross Station to snap a photo at Platform 9¾. The famous luggage trolley disappearing into the wall is a fun and free stop for any Potter-loving family! Prepare to queue in busy periods.

7. Take a River Bus Instead of a Pricey Boat Cruise

Instead of spending money on an expensive tourist boat ride, hop on a Thames Clipper (part of London’s public transport system). It’s a budget-friendly way to see the city from the river while avoiding the crowds. We took a trip to Greenwich on the Thames Clipper and it was a fantastic experience.

8. Visit the Sky Garden for a Free City View

Want to see London from above without the hefty price tag? Head to the Sky Garden, a stunning indoor garden with panoramic views of the city – and it’s completely free! Just be sure to book your tickets in advance.

London is packed with fun, free, and affordable activities that make for a great Easter holiday with the kids. Whether you explore museums, take part in egg hunts, or enjoy the city’s parks and markets, there’s something for everyone. With a bit of planning, you can enjoy an amazing day out without breaking the bank.

So, grab your walking shoes, pack a picnic, and make the most of London this Easter 2025!
